About me and libyue

Meeting libyue

I can no longer remember exactly when I first learned of this library — I only recall hunting for a GUI library in the Nodejs world at the time. The library was usable from Nodejs but honestly not pleasant to use; I never put it to work, yet the name Yue / libyue stayed with me — after all, its author is Cheng Zhao (zcbenz), a major contributor to the famous Electron project.

Trying libyue

Once I knew of it, its cross-platform capability and lightweight character kept it on my mind. Over the years I tried, back and forth, to put the library to daily use via yode and via lua, without success — there was no AI assistance back then the way there is now, and yode and lua each had their own inherent drawbacks.

Bringing libyue together

This year, while browsing Chen Suiyi's public account, I noticed he was using MoonBit, a new language. So I learned a bit about MoonBit through Liang Sheng's DS and found the language simple, lightweight, not slow, with quite good FFI compatibility and performance — and with the GLM Coding Plan I had opened at the start of the year still unexpired, AI emboldened me: I rode MoonBit's official September hackathon to start this moonbit-libyue project.
